To all of my users; I regret to inform you that due to Google’s recent change in their developer’s program policies, I have decided to leave their platform. Google has recently announced to us developers that they now require newly created personal developer accounts made on or after November 13th 2023 to find 20 people to test their applications for a minimum of two weeks before they are approved for publication on the Google Play Store. It’s only a matter of time before this requirement is for everyone and not just for new accounts. Existing accounts are required to verify their developer accounts by providing personal information. Google is allowing developers to pick their own deadline by February 29th 2024 on a first come first serve basis. Developers that do not pick their deadline by February 29th, Google will automatically assign a deadline for these developer accounts. Developers who fail to verify their account by the deadline they chose or by the deadline Google assigned will result in having all of their applications removed from the Play Store and having their developer account deleted by Google. In general speaking, I understand that Google aims to keep their user experience safe, reliable, enjoyable, of high quality, and private. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact – it’s a great thing that they do that, but it also creates a lot of chaos for us developers especially indie developers like myself. Not to mention how Google constantly keeps changing their developer’s program policies. It is a lot to keep up with, and a lot is expected out of us developers. It’s too much of a headache and a hassle! So, because of these reasons, it is time for me to go. Hopefully in the future Google will calm down on their strict policies so that developers like myself can return and enjoy releasing applications on their platform once again. It was a pleasure sharing my applications on the Google Play Store. All of my applications will be removed from the Google Play Store by the end of 2023.
